Saint Mary’s University is an excellent place to pursue graduate studies. Choose from 24 diverse PhD and Masters programs, offered within a collegial and stimulating intellectual community.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR) oversees Saint Mary’s graduate programs and supports the university’s research endeavours. The Faculty offers a wealth of information and resources on graduate studies and research activities within the university.

Areas of Expertise

In Arts: Atlantic Canada Studies, Criminology, History, International Development Studies, Philosophy, Theology & Regliious Studies, and women & Gender Studies.

In Commerce: Business Administration, Finance, and Management.

In Science: Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Computing Science, Environmental Studies, Geology, Geography, Mathematics, and Psychology.

On Campus Housing

Saint Mary's University offers one- and two-bedroom apartments for student families and graduate students attending the University. The apartments are in the Loyola Building conveniently located on campus in the city's south end. A twelve (12) month lease is required. These apartments were renovated in 2000/01 including exterior windows and siding, kitchens, upgraded fire safety systems and the introduction of voice, data, and cable technology in each unit. The apartments come unfurnished with refrigerator and stove. Meal plans are optional.

Sports

Saint Mary’s University Athletics & Recreation is committed to the University’s goal of helping individuals realize their full potential in their intellectual, social and physical dimensions. Consistent with our tradition of excellence, the Department of Athletics & Recreation is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in inter-university and intra-university competition, thereby creating pride and affinity with our alumni and student body, while generating position recognition for the University and the local community. Intramurals at Saint Mary's University offers a variety of organized sports, from Volleyball to Table Tennis, in competitive and recreational leagues. Intramurals is open to Saint Mary's University students, faculty and staff and you must be a registered member of SMUfit. Full-time students get a complimentary membership to SMUfit from September to April each year.

ITSS supports the mission of Saint Mary’s University by connecting faculty, staff and students to the information technology resources they need.
